The beam signing is a construction tradition that signifies the last steel beam being raised in the construction process. Before it is installed, the beam is signed by the client company. “Members of the company get a chance to be a part of history by leaving their signature on a piece of the structure that will last a lifetime,” said Tom Sullivan of Sullivan Construction.
“When Sullivan Construction proposed the beam signing, I thought it was a great idea,” said Bruce Leighton, Members First President and CEO. “We are happy to mark a significant moment in the construction of our new headquarters and look forward to welcoming our members and employees in 2021.”
The 18,000-square-foot, three-story building will offer full-service banking with a two-lane drive-up, onsite parking, and access from the Amoskeag Bridge. In addition to a full-service branch, the new facility will house the credit union’s executive management and back-office support teams.
Sullivan Construction began building the Members First Credit Union headquarters in July during the COVID-19 pandemic. Both Sullivan and Members First are committed to following safety protocols including social distancing, daily check-ins and temperature checks, and appropriate hand sanitizing for all personnel.
