Hapkiewicz's extensive background includes managing complex transportation projects throughout New England, including prior Connecticut-based projects such as:
- Track Improvement Mobility Enhancement Project No. 1, part of the governor’s initiative to increase the current Maximum Authorized Speed from 70 mph to 90 mph through a 3-mile section of track from Bridgeport to Stratford, Connecticut
- Replacement of the Metro-North Railroad Devon Bridge, a movable bridge that crosses the Housatonic River between Milford and Stratford, Connecticut
- Engineering Services for Reconstruction of I-84/Route 8 Interchange in Waterbury, Connecticut
In his new role, Hapkiewicz will build and oversee a team dedicated to sustaining and growing VHB’s presence in the Connecticut transportation sector. He will showcase VHB’s design-build experience, safety focus, and track record in advancing net-zero mobility programs and efforts to decarbonize transportation. Under Hapkiewicz's leadership, VHB will aid Connecticut in achieving its strategic transportation goals.
